Plus: how to win the current Gym Battles and earn their spoils.
Chris Tapsell Staff Writer Pokémon Go Gyms are towering, spinning monuments found out in the wild, which can be captured from other Teams with gym battles, and defended by adding your own Pokémon to their roster.
You'll need to join a Team to take part - you can join a team once your Trainer level hits 5 - and when you next interact with a Gym, Professor Willow invites you to join one of the game's three teams .
The differences between the teams are purely cosmetic, but it's worth siding with the same team as a friend, allowing you to tackle Gyms easier.
Once you have joined a team, you can help defend or challenge Gyms at your leisure.
Things have changed since Gyms first launched though; gone is the Prestige system and the bonuses for pokemon go teams and gyms Pokémon limit, and in comes a new system focused on Motivation, some new items, and even some Gym Medals, too.
Pokémon Go Gym rework - what are the new Gym changes coming to Pokémon Go's Gym update?
Niantic has described it as a push twards "making ownership more collaborative, and to encourage all players to visit friendly Gyms and engage with them a variety of new ways," and that's illustrated by a raft of changes to how the system works.
The new Motivation system in action, shown on a defending squad.
Whilst there will always be some small specifics uncovered by the community long after the update, we already know plenty.
Here's a quick summary of what's changed, before we dive into more detail on the various new points in the other sections below!
More on these special time-lmited battles in our detailed, go here />How Gyms work in Pokémon Go Gyms are the epicentre of Pokémon Go's late game, especially after their rework, housing all Pokémon Battles and Raids.
But that being said, although they certainly skew towards the more seasoned Pokémon Go players in a lot of ways, the rework means they do also serve a purpose for those bonuses for pokemon go teams and gyms working their way up through the levels.
Here's all you need to know about how they work: Team Mystic has taken this towering Gym.
That also means co-ordinating that with licence conditions codes practice gambling commission and of teammates is going to be more important than ever now, too - you might have one oflike Blissey, withbut not be able to add it because another teammate has got there first and added their own, weaker one.
In other words, you battle Pokémon in the order they were added to the gym.
It's rare you'll actually see unclaimed Gyms out in the wild now the game is available, but if you manage to remove a rival team, that Gym will then resume back to a neutral state - so be quick to claim it for your own before a rival team takes it.
Between that and the miles and bonus claim miles that a series of battles can take a while to complete, it's well worth planning your Gym activities in advance.
More on that, below.
What's been added in every Gen 3 update so far.

Motivation explained - how to raise Motivation and lower Motivation in Pokémon Go's issues bonus rights and Gyms You claim a Gym for your Team by bonuses for pokemon go teams and gyms the Pokémon on the Gym that belong to a rival Team - nothing new there - but in order to do that, you need to do something new: lower those Pokémon's Motivation to zero, one at a time, at which point they'll return to their Trainer.
What is Motivation and how does Motivation work?
Raising Pikachu's Motivation with a normal Razz Bonuses for pokemon go teams and gyms />At full motivation, the defending Pokémon will display it's current CP.
But as Motivation lowers - either by decaying over time or defeats in battle - that Pokémon's effective CP will be lowered too note that what we mean by effective CP is that it's a temporary change, your Pokémon's actual CP stays the same and will be the same as always when returned to you.
So, in theory, battles against rival Gym Pokémon will get progressively easier with each victory against that Pokémon.
That's one of the key reasons why Motivation is seen as a balancing factor - especially when coupled with the fact there are limited ways you can top that Motivation back up.
It's likewise also much harder to maintain a roster of Pokémon at a large number of Gyms by yourself, thanks to the fact that you need to be physically near to the Gym to pop up Motivation, which hopefully somewhat spreads the balance of power from the most hardcore of players to the rest of the community.
Its Motivation is lowered with each loss, so it'll normally take several to remove it entirely.
The lower the Motivation, the lower the Pokémon's CP, which means Pokémon will get easier and easier to defeat each time you win against them in battle.
Seeing as this has already changed within days of the update launching, be prepared for it to fluctuate again.
Losing all Motivation alone naturally isn't enough to remove a Team - a battle must always end it.
In our experience, the first berry provides a boost in Motivation that equates to about 20 per cent of the maximum.
After that, each Berry fed to that specific Pokémon raised its Motivation by far less - about 1 or 2 per cent, in our experience.
How Gym Battles work and how to win Gym Battles in Pokémon Go To battle at bonuses for pokemon go teams and gyms rival Gym, get close enough to it in the real world to activate it, then tap the icon to enter the Gym.
Then, select up to six Pokémon to battle, and press the Battle button.
Note that multiple trainers, and multiple Teams, too, can battle a Gym at once.
So if you're on Team Mystic, you can pair up with trainers from Team Instinct to take on Team Valor, for example.
While the main Pokémon games are surprisingly complex role-playing games, Pokémon Go has a simplified, real-time battle system that comprises of three moves - a regular attack by tapping the screen, a special attack which builds as you fight that can be unleashed by holding the screen, and a dodge that's performed by swiping left and right.
There is little strategy beyond swiping when you believe attacks are coming in the more powerful special attacks are much easier to avoid thanks to their early tells and spamming regular attacks with an occasional special attack whenever you can.
It's possible to take down an entire Gym without taking damage, if you have some particularly prodigious reflexes.
That means placing high-HP Pokémon in Gyms, such as Snorlax, Lapras, or Vaporeon, is a more efficient way to defend than with strong attackers.
Sometimes, a high damage, high-speed quick attack can deal out more DPS than a slow, medium-damage special attack.
We've compiled a ranking of the best.
Simply quit after each victory against a single Pokémon, heal all of yours up, and continue on again.
It's a grind, but aside from being time consuming it's hard to go wrong.
With combat being relatively simple, there are two other factors that are much more important than your tactical prowess; a Pokemon's CP and Type.
You essentially want your CP to be as high as possible - ideally one or two hundred more than the rival - in order to better withstand attacks and do damage.
As for the Type, this allows attacks of a certain element - such as Water attacks against a Fire Type - to do more damage 1.
Whether you're new to the franchise or need a refresher on what element trumps what, we've got a handyto help you out.
Likewise, STAB - same-type-attack-bonus - makes a return from the main series too, modifying attacks of the same type as the Pokémon using visit web page by 1.
An example would be the Water-Type Pokémon Blastoise using the Water-Type move, Water Gun.
How to earn the Defender Bonus and Gym rewards in Pokémon Go Gyms will give you two types of Bonuses outside of Raids - XP, and.
Both are discussed in further detail in those prior links, but in short, the more you battle and hold a Gym, the more Badge experience you earn, allowing you to then receive more items when spinning the photo disc.
The Defender Bonus, meanwhile, comes in the form of PokeCoins, working similar to the original Gym system in some ways, but with some different restrictions and drop rates.
Feeding creatures gives you Stardust, Badge XP and a chance at Candy.
By placing a Pokémon from your inventory at a gym to defend it, you'll earn the Defender Bonus - a reward of 1 PokéCoin per 10 minutes or so that it stays there, which is now automatically claimed when your Pokémon returns to you either after you take it out or it's returned automatically by reaching zero Motivation.
There is a cap on how much you can earn however, so you can read up on how they work in more detail over in our guide.
Our best tip for securing more coins from Gyms would deposit and withdrawal system to capture one right before a Raid is about to start.
With Gyms completely taken over and rendered non-interactive throughout, that means your Pokémon will be safely inside for at least the hour duration, earning and code pen paper knights a solid amount of Coins for your trouble.
Arguably one of the best rewards for interacting with Gyms is Candy.
Giving Berries to Pokémon held at the Gym not only gives you a small amount of Badge XP andbut by feeding a Pokémon defending a Gym a Berry, there's a small chance you could get some Candy for that Pokémon in return.
With Gyms typically hosting some of the rarest Pokémon in the game, that means Berry-feeding is one of the most effective ways to get that Chancey, Dratini, and Larvitar Candy for those extra-strong evolutions.

Before you can, you are told to join one of three teams.
Joining the team will determine what colour you go for and allow for you to team up with other local players against the other teams.
Team Instinct Team Mystic Team Valor Picture Legendary Mascot Zapdos Articuno Moltres Colour Yellow Blue Red Leader Spark Blanche Candela Gyms Despite Pokémon GO being vastly different to the main games, it does have a recurring feature.
These are gyms and are bonuses for pokemon go teams and gyms in a variety of locations around the world.
These locations are all set on bonuses for pokemon go teams and gyms servers and can be seen by all.
If you see a gym article source is silver, then that means it is currently uninhabited and can be taken for your team.
You can select a Pokémon to look after the gym.
Each Gym can have up to six Pokémon in it, with there being a restriction on the amount of Pokémon of the same species.
No longer is the gym system controlled by Prestige, but this time all Gyms can hold up to 6 Pokémon within and the Pokémon are removed after their motivation has gone down.
For each battle a Pokémon loses, their Motivation drops and their CP temporarily drops to tie in with it.
Once their Motivation has dropped to 0, then they are removed from the Gym.
However, there is a way to increase motivation.
You can feed berries to your Pokémon to gradually improve the motivation, with the Golden Razz Berry increasing the motivation straight up to the top.
With each Berry you use, you will gain 20 Stardust, but each successive use of a Berry will result in lower increases of Motivation.
After a certain amount, you will receive a Candy of the Pokémon you are feeding.
You can now also spin the Gyms like a Poké Stop.
This allows for you to get many.
You will get more items from the Gym if you have the Gym Badge, or your team currently runs the Gym.
However, spinning the Gym for items is the only way to get a Raid Pass which is used in.
You Pokémon will accrue 1 Coin for every 10 minutes it stays defending in the gym which you then receive when the Pokémon is removed from the gym.
This is capped at 50 Coins earned a day.
Gym Battles If a Gym is being held by another team, then you can battle it.
The battles are relatively simple, with the moves being automatic.
If you tap the opponent Pokémon, then your Pokémon will attack.
As the Pokémon attack and Hit Points are lowered, a second attack is charged up.
When that attack is fully charged it unleashes with a more powerful move.
You can also dodge your opponent's attacks by go here left or right.
When you challenge the gym, you can select up to 6 Pokémon of your to take it on.
This gives you a bigger chance at taking on a gym and winning.
If other players in your team or the team not owning a gym join in battle, it allows for stronger gyms to be more easily taken out as they appear in the battle and attack the opponent.
Gym Badges A new addition to Gyms is the ability to obtain Gym Badges.
There are four different level of Gym Badge: Standard, Bronze, Silver and Gold.
As you do various things with the Gym, the rank of the Gym will gradually increase.
Before you can, you are told to join one of three teams.
Joining the team will determine what colour you go for and allow for you to team up with other local players against the other teams.
Team Instinct Team Mystic Team Valor Picture Legendary Mascot Zapdos Articuno Moltres Colour Yellow Blue Red Leader Spark Blanche Candela At present, there's no evidence of any additional enhancement for each of the teams.
Gyms Despite Pokémon GO being vastly different to the main games, it does have a recurring feature.
These are gyms and are located in a variety of locatrions around the world.
These locations are all set on the servers and can be seen by all.
If you see a gym which is silver, then that means it is currently uninhabited and can be taken for your team.
You can select a Pokémon to look after bonuses for pokemon go teams and gyms gym.
Like the player, Gyms have levels but you can't control the level too much.
Instead, it is determined by prestige.
The gym's prestige is increased and decreased depending upon whether or not bonuses for pokemon go teams and gyms challenge has been defeated or if a challenger has defeated the gym.
If the prestige hits 0, then the gym is lost to the team and can be claimed by any other player.
As the gym increases in level, more players in your team can place Pokémon there.
If you and another player of your team are attacking the same gym, both player's Pokémon appear in the game and will attack the opponent bonuses for pokemon go teams and gyms the same time.
If the Gym is under the control of someone from your team, then you can also station a Pokémon there in order to try and fortify the gym so prestige is not lost.
You can also train other Pokémon there to see if your gym is properly fortified and how your Pokémon work.
Gym Prestige Much like the trainer, gyms have their own levels and rank up accordingly based on how well they do.
To boost prestige at a gym you own, you simply have to train at it, or put a Pokémon into it.
To lower the prestige of an opposing team's gym, you have to defeat Pokémon in battle.
If you defeat all the Pokémon in the gym, the Prestige hit is larger.
As a gym levels up, it allows for more Pokémon to be placed in the gym, thus making it even harder to take down.
However, when that happens, it also loses more prestige if it gets defeated.
Should the loss in prestige level down the gym, then the weakest Pokémon will be booted out and returned to the trainer.
Level Prestige Required Number of Pokémon Level 1 0 1 Pokémon Level 2 2,000 2 Pokémon Level thank knights and dragons code for armor right! 4,000 3 Pokémon Level 4 8,000 4 Pokémon Level 5 12,000 5 Pokémon Level 6 16,000 6 Pokémon Level 7 20,000 7 Pokémon Level 8 30,000 8 Pokémon Level 9 40,000 9 Pokémon Level 10 50,000 10 Pokémon Players can boost prestige of their gym by Training.
This has players use 6 Pokémon against all the Pokémon in the gym, with the CP of the Pokémon dropping down to better match your usable Pokémon.
The experience yeild and boost in prestige is smaller than taking a gym, but can boost the gym up so it can survive more attacks.
Gym Battles If a Gym is being held by another team, then you can battle it.
The battles are relatively simple, with the moves being automatic.
If you tap the opponent Pokémon, then your Pokémon will attack.
As the Pokémon attack and Hit Points are lowered, a bonuses for pokemon go teams and gyms attack is charged up.

You can also dodge your opponent's attacks by swiping left or right.
When you challenge the gym, you can select up to 6 Pokémon of your to take it on.
This gives you a bigger chance at taking on a gym and winning.
However, if you are just training in a gym owned by your team, you can only bring in one.
If other players in your team or the team not owning a gym join in battle, it allows for stronger gyms to be more easily taken out as they appear in the battle and attack the opponent.
Gym Bonus There is another perk to holding a gym.
Once every 21 hours, if you go to the shop you will be able to get a bonus.
The bonus you will receive is dependant on how many gyms you currently have Pokémon within.
For each gym you have a Pokémon in, you will get 10 PokéCoins, as well as https://outboundtraining.info/and/the-king-and-i-dress-code.html Stardust.

So I started thinking of how each of the team's theme could have an influence on the game.
Team Mystic: Focuses on how pokemon evolve.
Team perks could include less candies required to evolve pokemon.
Larger cp boost when evolving Team Instinct: Focuses on how eggs hatch.
Team perks could be extra incubator, less distance required to hatch eggs, stronger pokemon from eggs Team Valor: Focuses on power and training.
Team perks could include larger cp bonus when powering up, gaining some cp when winning gym battles.
Maybe players wouldn't get all these bonuses at once, and the team bonuses would increase as you level up.
This could add another dimension to leveling read article than just finding higher cp wild pokemon.
Any thoughts or other ideas for team perks?
I'm on team instinct and I know that we hatch eggs at the same rate as everyone else but yesterday I hatched a Lapras from an egg!
I don't know if I got really lucky or if team instinct just has better chances to bonuses for pokemon go teams and gyms good Pokemon from eggs.
Was just a 10 km egg.
There's like 8 random ones that hatch from that egg.
Laura's is one of them.
Congratulations on the awesome hatch tho Team Valor for life seems like i am the only one in my town Bonuses for pokemon go teams and gyms UK aha might as well call it gold city PSA: Can confirm that there is a hidden bonus on blue team.
When I evolve something it will say it cost 1 more than it actually does.
So pidgey cost 12 but for me its 11 also tested on ratata which is 25 but only took 24.
Still have to have the 12 and 25 respectively but it doesn't take the whole 12 and 25.
Also not sure if this is true I haven't tested but you might have been spot on with the CP boost as well when Bonuses for pokemon go teams and gyms evolved my lowly ratata just for exp the quickly jumped the the top of my CP roster.
Will test at a later date.
This isn't being charged less, you gain 1 additional candy after each click, regardless of your team.
I believe you also get 1 extra candy from acquiring the evolution, so you need 25, but you end up getting 1 back.
Edit: Am team yellow and happens to me too I click here confirm this.
Edit: This is wrong.
My friend who's in valor did it and they also got charged one candy less.
I'm pretty much always at max and get more eggs from pokestops as soon as they hatch.
Dont see why it would be hard to balance, yellow bonuses for pokemon go teams and gyms more potential from hatched pokemon, blue gets more of a jump from evelutions and red gets see more slight power up bonus or something like that.
I don't think balance is a big concern.
I mean, the multiplayer in the actual Pokemon games are a lot more complex.
Pokemon go only has cp as a major stat, and each pokemon only has two moves.
I think that team perks would just accentuate different ways of playing the game.
For example, I picked Instinct because if Pokemon were real, I always imagined myself as a breeder or ranger.
I'm perfectly happy to just walk around collecting and hatching eggs.
Other people might want to go around conquering gyms and Team Valor would facilitate that.
Others just focus on collecting as many pokemon as they can.
Bonuses I'd like to see Instinct: Pokemon are one foot step closer than normal or a bigger radius around trainer Mystic: Slightly more EXP Valor: Perhaps a slightly higher catch rate or less chance of a Pokemon fleeing I really don't now how the myth came to me.
But this is kinda what people told me like it is for real: Blue get's EP Bonus from evolving.
Yellow get's more EP from hatching eggs.
Red get's more EP claiming Gyms.
Would be kinda balanced i guess.
